Empty Analysis: No Sports Story Can Be Written Without Source Data
The document called a comprehensive analysis has just arrived at the newsroom and stopped me at the first line. The full framework from car technology, race strategy, team analysis, regulations, driver market, risk and public narrative is present, but no real data exists inside. No driver name, no lap time, no financial figure, no race context. A perfectly structured form with empty content is the most expensive form of waste in sports journalism. After years of reading club financial reports and analysing league operations, I know this rule never changes: without input data, every analysis is zero. An article that fills gaps with guesswork is not news; it is a credibility debt the newsroom will later have to pay. Therefore, before writing a single line, the editor must ask for the original source material again. If not, the only sports story here is the story of a process lacking data discipline.
